1. Why does my business need a
website?
A: Here are just a few of the reasons for having a website:
- You can provide 24-hour service to your customers.
- For a small owner-operated business, your website can act like a secretary. Your customers can send you an e-mail while you're out working (or sleeping) and you can respond when you're back in the office.
- Your competitors probably have a website, which means without one you are at a disadvantage. When you do have one, you'll want to find ways to make yours better.
- You can present a professional business image. For a small business, a well designed website is a great way of instilling confidence and looking bigger than you actually are.
- For a new business, a website adds credibility and let's people know your serious. A lack of one may make them wonder.
- It's your online brochure that can be changed at any time. A website is easier, cheaper and quicker to update than printed material.
- You can provide improved customer service and save time by providing answers to frequently asked questions on your website.
- On-line forms can be used to make it easier for customers to contact you and ask questions.
- You can sell your products and promote your services.
2.
What if I'm not looking for more customers?A. Even if you're not looking to grow your company, a website gives you credibility, and offers a way to establish and build a relationship with existing customers. Customers will feel better about doing business with a company they can easily find on the internet, especially if you offer helpful information to them when they do find you.
3.
What if I'm already advertising in The Yellow Pages?A. With 70%* of American households using the internet, there's a growing percentage of printed directories that go directly to the recycling bin. For any of your customers that work at a computer even part of the day, it's much easier to do a quick internet search than to find the phone book and search for a particular product or service. Printed ads may still be a valuable part of your advertising and marketing. With a website, you can potentially reduce your ad space and refer them to your website for details.
